Description

This generation of Ford continues to mark its place in street rodding, and like previous generations, all body styles share the same chassis. Our reproduction chassis is made from 4-piece rails built and fully boxed in stout fixtures. This method insures that the original contours and shape are maintained and will match your body perfectly. Our recommended front suspension is a Heidts or TCI Mustang II IFS. A traditional axle front end, Kugel Komponents IFS or Heidts Superide IFS is also available. In the rear, we recommend parallel leaf springs which we feel provide superior ride quality for these larger cars. We use a custom made spring pack which lowers the rear of the car and provides a nice hot-rod rake when combined with the IFS. To further lower the rear another 2”, we can mount these springs inboard of the frame, rather than under. A triangulated or parallel 4-bar is also an option. Another common customization to this chassis is ‘stepping’ the rear frame section inward 2” to accommodate larger tires. Not to be confused with a radical pro-street look, this helps get some bigger meats under the car without modifying the fenders.

We can build yours with a traditional axle front end, or make it handle like a modern sports car with independent front and/or rear suspension systems. For an independent front, the Heidt's Mustang II is a good choice for both value and high-performance but an upgrade to a Kugel Komponents or Heidts Superide II IFS is available for even more 'show and go'. In the rear, we spec this car chassis with a street-rod specific set of lowered leaf springs that compliment drop axle or drop spindle front ends. While we prefer the ride of the leaf springs on this heavier car (especially if it is a sedan), a triangulated 4-bar and/or air bags are optional upgrades.

The following describes our 'standard' Complete Rolling Package that can be used as a starting point for planning your custom build. Each chassis is built to your specs and we can typically accommodate special requests or build features - just ask!
