This customer's retirement plans involved carting his kids and grandkids around in a hot rod. Knowing this, he found a 1939, 4 door Dodge sedan to rebuild for just this purpose. He delivered a clean, sandblasted frame to us along with a 5.7 Hemi from a wrecked Dodge Magnum wagon. (Gotta have a Mopar in a Mopar he said!) We started by removing the unneeded brackets, filling all the unneeded holes, and making a few minor repairs. The unique shape of the front frame rails required us to build a custom front stub to which we installed a Heidt's Superide II IFS. The original X-member was a good design and since this wasn't going racing, we left it as is. The frame rails were fully boxed and a Ford 9" rear was added on leaf springs that could handle all those family members. Other typical components added were the brake pedal, booster, master cylinder and brake lines as well as custom motor and transmission mounts.
