Superior Glass Works has decades of experience building the highest quality fiberglass and carbon parts and bodies for hot rodders and drag racers. Our fabrication shop builds high-performance chassis, components, and manufacturing fixtures to exacting tolerances. This experience for a very discerning customer base also provides Superior Glass Works with the capabilities to design and manufacture other parts using the same facilities and technologies . Our capabilities include:
Some recent examples of our non-automotive and contract work include:
Microwave Radomes: Light-weight, weather-resistant radomes are used throughout the communications industry to protect the sensitive electronics that send and receive microwave signals. These dishes must also allow the signals to transmit without interference, and fiberglass is an ideal material. Radomes come in countless sizes and shapes, and we have built several varieties to meet the specs of multiple customers.
Jeep Trailer Kits: Compact Camping Concepts recently introduced their Dinoot trailer kits (Click for company website) which are built to resemble the back end of Jeep. These are sold in modular parts intended for the budget-minded do-it-yourself'er who can provide the labor to assemble the body panels provided. Superior Glass Works provided design guidance, plug building, and mold building to get this new product to market. Additionally, manufcaturing and fulfillment of the final products are provided.
US Air Force - Flight Simulator Seats: The US Air Force contracted with us to build strong, light, seat bottoms and seat backs for their flight simulators. Haid-laid construction was required to acheive the strength and stiffness that would withstand high G-forces of these trainers.
BD Micro - Airplane parts: Carbon Fiber wing tips and air ducts for BD Micro airplanes. Light-weight and durability are critical in this application.
Grey Water Tanks: Used is many parks and campgrounds, these tanks are designed for grey water disposal. They sit 2' high, and 4' deep into the ground and can be hooked up to a 4" sewer drain. Water proof, UV resistant gel coat surface available in a variety of colors. Top mesh is stainless steel and all hardware is galvanzied or stainless for long-term weather resistance. Top portions are available seperately. Our tanks are built to the State of Oregon Parks Department specifications.
Triumph Stag convertible top header: The top mechanisms on these old Triumphs always seem to rot away, so good, clean originals are impossible to find. Having built these headers for our own cars, we were given an original part good enough to salvage to make our molds. These are made in two peices, with steel added betweenin the middle prior to bonding the halves together.
Destiny Part - Streamliner Bodies: These light-weight, aerodynamic bodies are used in high-efficiency, land-speed, and alternative fuel competitions. Available in fiberglass or carbon fiber. See www.destinyparts.com for more information.
Concrete Forms: A local contractor needed forms for pouring concrete parking lot barriers. He typically made forms from steel, but doing so was cost prohibitive for this project. We were able to build him a strong, light, and portable form built from his drawings that worked like a charm. The form was built with several layers of fiberglass and reinforced with steel to handle the pressure exerted by the wet cement. By splitting the form down the center, we were able to get all the undercuts in the end column and make removal easy.
Please contact us with your project needs and we will discuss the best approach and provide a free estimate. |
