Description

In 1939 the Chevrolet pickups were re-styled and for the first time their appearance broke away from the lines of the passenger cars. In comparison to the '38 trucks they also added wheelbase (now up to 113.5") and interior space. The '40 model year had a few minor, visual changes but otherwise shared its looks and specifications with the prior year model. Some consider the 1939 and 1940 models to be the best looking Chevy trucks of this ear. As such, they are popular with restorers and hot-rodders alike. Since these trucks lived most of their lives doing hard work, their chassis can show considerable wear after all these years and are not up to the demands of a modern enthusiast.

Fortunately, we offer a safe, strong, and good looking chassis built to Chevy’s original specs that will accept original and aftermarket sheetmetal. Suitable for a restoration or a radical hot rod. Each chassis is built to exact, stock dimensions and your original steel body and bed will fit without issue. Our recommended front suspension is a Heidts or TCI Mustang II IFS. A traditional axle front end, Kugel Komponents IFS or Heidts Superide IFS is also available. In the rear, our base chassis is equipped with custom, lowered, parallel leaf springs to provide a superior ride quality for these trucks, especially if you intend to put a few road-trip supplies or swap-meet finds in the back. When combined with the IFS with dropped spindles, the truck will have a nice hot rod rake and stance. A triangulated or parallel 4-bar with coil-overs or air-bag/shockwaves is also a popular option.

The following describes our 'standard' Complete Rolling Package that can be used as a starting point for planning your custom build. Each chassis is built to your specs and we can typically accommodate special requests or build features - just ask!
